Parnian Ferdossi is an interdisciplinary educator, researcher, and artist whose work explores photography’s role in shaping public life and spatial experience. With a background in visual culture, art history, and media theory, Parnian has taught at leading institutions including Birkbeck, University of London, University of the Arts London, the University of West London, and Kaarnamaa Institute of Art and Culture (conducted in Persian), delivering seminars on photography theory, visual analysis, and critical media studies.
Her practice spans academic research, curatorial collaboration, and artistic production. As a long-time collaborator with Ag Galerie in Tehran, she has led photography projects exhibited internationally at, among other places, Unseen Amsterdam, Art Dubai, and Photolux Italy, and contributed as co-editor to publications on twentieth-century Iranian photography.
Parnian’s academic journey began with a BA in Fine Art Photography from the University of Tehran, followed by an MA in Photography and Urban Cultures from Goldsmiths, University of London. She pursued PhD research at Birkbeck, University of London, investigating the socio-historical dimensions of photography in Iran, with a focus on how photographic publicness shapes collective experience and spatial imagination.
In addition to her academic work, she has directed and produced art documentaries focusing on contemporary visual artists, integrating historical research with narrative-driven visual storytelling.
She is also an active volunteer, leading hospital art tours with Royal Free Charity
